Read the previous post for better insight. I will not make you wait so check out the latest update.

There are three relative minor updates. I have fleshed out the text styling by adding list styles. I have adding extra white space between content and comments which causes the comments to move off my laptop screen. I added a comment form.

Now, there is one major update. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. I have started to work out the rethought and improved advanced browse/search (if you think of a better name tell me). The current design has a browse and search which you can toggle open. Shortly after creating it, I saw many issues with it—oh well. This is a second take on it. It is a mashup of a search and browse by category. The x-axis is for search relevancy and the y-axis is how many categories the result is in.

I am really happy for the CSS display inline-block. It does so many little things I need. For instant, I used it for the post links in the search/browse at the bottom of the page. I can have the links be compact so two can be on one line but it also prevents the links from creating a messing line wrapping which breaks the bubble feeling.

It has been a year since I started thinking about redesigning my website. Finally I have started. I am going to try to do the redesign publicly as I can without having my site out of service. I have a few goals for the redesign.

Evolve the current design. Instead of starting fresh, I am going to use the current design as the starting point. It will be a self test for myself to see how to improve upon the flaws of this design.

Improve the navigation. Since the site grew rather organically, the navigation never really kept up with it.

Push web design layout. When I did the current layout, I was trying to pushing the current thinking for web design and I see no reason to stop.

Switch to Druapl from WordPress. I want to learn Drupal because I like to learn new things and it gives me a better understanding of systems more of them I know. I have nothing against WordPress and I still recommend it. This website was my very first WordPress website and now it will also be my first Drupal website from start to finish.

Change the spelling from Mo Jebus to Mojebus.

Here is the in-the-works design of the redesigned Mojebus.

When I installed Firefox 3b5 on Windows Vista, I could no longer download files because they were marked as possible malware. The download window would show the file with the message, “Blocked: Download may contain a virus or spyware.” I tried changing the security settings, as suggested, to no avail. I gave up on it and figure it must be a bug.

Now it works. The change was simple. I ran Windows Update. I discovered Windows had not updated, contrary to what I thought, for a few months because some Windows service had been turned off. Once I got Windows Updated working again with a restart or two, Firefox 3b5 now can download files again.

For about four weeks now, I have been playing around off and on with Drupal. What impresses me the most about Drupal is it seems more forward thinking about what a CMS is compared to most other systems I have seen. But my one big gripe is the admin interfaces for many of the modules are less than ideal. I know it is hard to do a good web interface and it takes a lot of time. I also (from what I understand about Drupal) am impress that Drupal provides an easy way for developers to create such interfaces. But all the same, some module admin interfaces really need an interface of a full application instead of a webpage.

For instances, I played around with the state machine module. It is a pretty cool idea. To be honest the multiple forms do not do it justice. It could really benefit from an interface similar to Yahoo! Pipes.

Here I am complaining with out offering a solution. So, my really basic solution would be for a Drupal Advance UI API.

I received this email today at work and I am amazed. To quote my coworker, “what an ass.”

To: Seamus Leahy

Good morning, Seamus:

We recently sent you some very important email information on (February 6th & April 3rd) with a couple of followup phone calls. We previously provided this informaiotn [sic] to [previous person with the name misspelled]. This could have proved to be very beneficial for your organization’s valuable website, and for some reason or other, you chose not to respond to these significant messages! Unfortunately, we consider that as a lack of professional courtesy, and of good communications skills on your part..

It’s probably not your fault - there are literally thousands of people, like you, in the business world today who don’t know how to communicate properly! You just happen to be one of them. That’s why we also created a popular 1/2 hour T.V. program, called “Communicating Today”, on Ch 10, Fairfax Cable, which is designed to help people, like yourself, to become better, more courteous communicators! We suggest that you watch this program, asap - because you could benefit from it! It “airs” on Sundays @ 3:30 pm, Fridays @ 6:30 am and Wednesdays @ 8:30 pm.

“Here’s to better, and more courteous communicating”!

Thanks, Seamus.

John Monsul
Account Executive
KMAnet
and
Producer/Host of
“Communicating Today”
Channel 10, Fairfax Cable
Fairfax, VA.

Enjoy watching “Communicating Today” this weekend!

Will I watch “Communicating Today?” Heck no.

<strike>Even if they did call and email, which I do not remember, it is nothing personal because the number of cold calls I get is absurd.</strike>

UPDATE

I can’t believe I did not recognize the name earlier. Yes this person does call and leave emails all the time! Our receptionist has become very familiar with him. From what I have learned, he started calling my organization well over five years ago and we have never purchased anything. After a few months of not calling us, he starts again. But, the kicker is he starts by asking for essentially my predecessor’s predecessor’s predecessor. After a few attempts of being told the person no longer works here, he then remembers the next person. The patterns repeats until he remembers me.

While I was down at SXSW, he calls up and asks for me to which the receptionist tells him I am out for the remainder of the week. He called the very next day.

I have nothing against cold sales call as long as they stop once it is clear that there is no interest.
