Quick question, what font-face does the Helvetica Documentary Film website use for actually text (do not be confused by the amount of text which is actually images)?
The answer: Verdana.
It looks fine, but did they not try? You can make an argument about the availability and range of Helvetica of people’s systems. But I am not drinking that kool-aid for two reasons:
- The top audience for the film is designers who most likely have Helvetica installed.
- The low resolution of the text (the height of the text is 10 to 14 dots for the screen compared to 45 dots from a cheap computer printer) makes it hard to tell the difference between the different versions of Helvetica and for that matter, the bastard version, Arial.
