A Weird Warp

Something I that I had made years ago that has been just sitting on my computer. 1280 x 1024

I honestly thought about not adding “A Weird Warp” to the backgrounds when I transferred them into Wordpress. I thought it looked amateur at best. But, I received an email asking for information about how to achieve that effect I decided to place it here—at least for archival purposes.

Basic Directions

The image “A Weird Warp” is not all that complex to create. It is akin to making spin art where it looks really cool but all you did was squirt paint onto a surface spin it. I used Paint Shop Pro to create “A Weird Warp” but one could also use Photoshop. I first painted some scribble, then I used the effects found in the Distortion Effects menu (such as twirl, spiky halo, ripple) and finally I used the warp effect to give it that last punch. The only other suggestion I have is to play with all the settings in the effects to see how they change it.

  1. Step 1: Some scribble
  2. Step 2: Some effects applied to the scribble
  3. Step 3: The final result with the warp effect.
